Introducing the BirdDog X120: The Most Connected PTZ Camera on the Planet

BirdDog has done it again! The World’s First NDI HX3 Wi-Fi Production PTZ Camera, the BirdDog X120, is here and ready to revolutionize live production and live streaming. With its unparalleled flexibility and freedom, the X120 eliminates the need for video cables, making it the most connected PTZ camera on the planet.

The X120 has won the Best in Show award at this years NAB Show, and it’s easy to see why. With its amazing Sony Exmor R image broadcast sensor, the X120 delivers incredible picture performance and fantastic low light capabilities. But that's just the beginning.

The X120 comes with an OLED display that shows the IP address, 360° mohawk tally, filter thread, and free auto-tracking and colour shading via Cam Control. And with four hardwired connection options and Wi-Fi, the X120 is the most connected PTZ camera on the planet. Additional connection options include NDI® over Ethernet, SDI, HDMI for live production work, and UVC USB for connecting to Zoom & Teams.

With Wi-Fi, the X120 sets a new benchmark for total production freedom and is the first production PTZ with Wi-Fi. Simply connect X120 to your Wi-Fi network and you have total access to the X120 without it being connected by expensive video cables. And with the optional NDI PTZ Control iOS app, you have total control for your X120 cameras. There is a live and full screen viewing monitor, a live joystick to move cameras around, and the ability to save and recall pre-set PTZ positions.

The X120 delivers a total production freedom like never before. It is compatible with every software application and system, including TriCaster, vMix, Wirecast, Epiphan, OBS, Vizrt Vectar, FOR.A, Broadcast Pix, and many more. It is also compatible with baseband SDI and HDMI including Ross, AJA, Blackmagic, Grass Valley, and more. The X120 features USB-C for connecting directly to Zoom, Teams, Barco Clickshare, Google Meet, Webex, GoTo Meeting, BlueJeans, Slack, and any app that supports a USB UVC input.

The X120 is packed with advanced production features. With its full-color matrix, individual saturation, and hue control over Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, and Magenta, all with 64 levels of control, dialling in your cameras has never been easier. The Kelvin controls allow you to easily tune your X120 to the lighting temperature for a super easy way to white balance your cameras. Access the color matrix and Kelvin control tools from Cam Control, the free remote shading application, or use the new NDI PTZ Control app to wirelessly dial in the settings.

With the X120, streaming to all the major platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo is a piece of cake. And with the innovative and totally punk mohawk tally, which gives a full 360° view, you’ll never be caught out wondering which camera you need to be talking to. Plus, the removable silicon numbers at the back of the X120 give additional Tally vision and allow switcher operators to easily identify cameras.

The super handy OLED allows for information such as IP Address, Device Name, Stream Name, Resolution, and Frame Rate. And the X120 can generate scopes in the camera to send out as an overlay on the NDI HX3 stream or the NDI Proxy. Choose from Histogram, Waveform, Vectorscope, or RGB Parade and the position on the NDI® stream and toggle on/off.
